What happens in November?
Many performers enjoy a master-class-like environment, where they perform for a knowledgeable adjudicator, and receive individualized instruction.
Copyright Issues
In order for a performance to be heard, you must provide a published version of the music for the use of the adjudicator. Photocopies alone are not permitted, to comply with the Canadian Publishing Act.

It is sometimes difficult to obtain more than one original, published version of Canadian works. For purposes of this festival, a photocopy can be permitted for the performer’s use, if the performer wishes to play from written music rather than from memory. It is still required to have at least one published version of the music in the room at the time of the performance.

When can one apply to perform?
Applications are received each year from September 1 to October 15. The application window is closed after October 15 to allow time for scheduling and room allocation.
How does one apply? (intro)
You can use this website to enter the appropriate information and pay the appropriate fees through a secure connection using PayPal or one of several credit cards.

Alternately, you can find a .pdf application form at acnmp.ca > Contemporary Showcase > List of Centres > Toronto. Print out the form, fill it in and ensure it is delivered to the address on the form on or before October 15, complete with payment by cheque or money order.

See below for detailed instructions for this online system.

Where does all the money go?
Contemporary Showcase Toronto is a not-for-profit, entirely volunteer organization.

Class participation fees fund reasonable fees and expenses for our excellent adjudicators.

Donations fund awards are granted to encourage future efforts of the performers.

A partnership between Contemporary Showcase Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music School allocates performance spaces free of charge in return for free enrolment of those students in the RCM Music Enrichment Program who choose to apply.

Do I receive an invoice for my order?
If you order online, you get receipts automatically to your email inbox, one for each form you filled, and from PayPal for each payment. Please ensure ACNMP.Toronto@gmail.com won’t go to your junk mail. (Include this address in your address book, or whatever else your mailer requires.) [There is a dot (.) between ACNMP and Toronto.]

If you made a donation of sufficient value to Showcase or ACNMP, either online or via regular mail, you will get a tax receipt at a later date.

What happens after October 15?
All applications are grouped according to class and order received.

Every attempt is made to assign each applicant to an appropriate adjudicator and time slot.

An early draft of the results will be posted on this website. Those parties who have provided a valid address to the email list will get an email of this new posting and any subsequent updates.

Scheduling efforts continue to match each class (adjudication session) with an available classroom (performance venue). This information is also posted when it becomes available.

In the eventuality that not all scheduling criteria can be met, such as not enough applicants to warrant running a class, or not enough performance space to accommodate all the requests, it may regrettably be necessary to refund individual applications. Please note that performer-initiated refund requests cannot be issued due to the fact that this organization will be committed to expenses at this point, such as adjudication fees.

What happens in December?
This organization mounts a Concert / Awards evening. A small sample of performers from the November festival week are invited to perform for an audience. Awards are given to a number of participants, not as if winning a competition, but rather to recognize merit and encourage further study and development.
